Superman vs. the Amazing Spider-Man #1

Superman and Spider-Man meet above the city in a landmark treasury cover. Explore the crossovers, rivalries and parodies that return to its facing-heroes composition.

This catalog follows the original cover’s composition across published comics and announced editions. Trade dress, virgin, foil and sketch treatments are described in edition notes. Connecting sets identify their participating issues and panels.

Verified records have source support for the exact cover and target. Partial records retain attribution or edition gaps. Reprints, interior-scene homages, different targets and unresolved references are listed separately below.

Clean native 1232×1600 published-cover scan chosen from Catspaw Dynamics. This is that page’s published cover image, not its separately presented re-created trade dress or newly colored versions. Original $2 price preserved. No AI reconstruction, recoloring or local upscaling. Published January 2, 1976; GCD indexes inferred April cover date. The two heroes face one another above a sharply tilted skyscraper steel framework. The full treasury logo, greatest-team-up tagline and Battle of the Century banner are central features of the homage lineage. Front cover is distinct from the back-cover pinup.

Research & releases · Reviewed October 20, 2026

New editions and open questions

As of October 20, 2026, no future-dated homage specifically targeting the front cover of Superman vs. the Amazing Spider-Man (1976) was confirmed. January 7,2026 Ross treasury edition and March25,2026 Sandoval crossover are published, despite old preorder language. The Ross treasury cover reuses the earlier Wizard painting and is grouped rather than counted twice.

Undisclosed print quantities, ambiguous credits and conflicting edition dates remain identified as unknown. This catalog can grow as publishers, artists and collectors provide new evidence.
