This catalog follows the original cover’s composition across published comics and announced editions. Trade dress, virgin, foil and sketch treatments are described in edition notes. Connecting sets identify their participating issues and panels.
Verified records have source support for the exact cover and target. Partial records retain attribution or edition gaps. Reprints, interior-scene homages, different targets and unresolved references are listed separately below.
Native Marvel 975×1500 digital master. Removed only the bottom 75-pixel gold LEGENDS banner, added outside the original 1977 cover artwork, yielding 975×1425. Entire 30¢ July first-edition art, title and caption boxes retained. Clean white lettering and no exterior background. Publisher digital colors rather than photographed paper. Historical April 12 on-sale date differs from Marvel’s July 1 cover-date placeholder. No artificial upscaling or recoloring. Origin cover: Luke raises a lightsaber before an ensemble of Leia, Han and Obi-Wan, with a looming green Darth Vader helmet and Death Star, starships and radial blast.

- Star Wars Weekly #1
UK weekly reprint reuses the US 1977 cover art with new trade dress and a free X-wing promotion. Kept as a reference, not new homage art. Publisher corrected to Marvel UK; February 8, 1978 release and the five principal cover figures confirmed.
Research source ↗ - Star Wars 1977 #1 Facsimile Edition #1
Aggregated research reference only. Individually inspected: Ordway depicts the Tantive corridor, Mayhew depicts Vader’s helmet with Obi-Wan reflected, and Kirkham depicts a Vader lightsaber swing. None is confirmed to recreate Chaykin’s 1977 ensemble. Celebration art still needs separate verification. The input claim that all new facsimile art must be a homage has been removed. Alex Ross’s own art site explicitly identifies the illustration as a homage to Star Wars #1 (1977). The color 1:50 and 1:200 sketch variants share the same drawing and are grouped as one artwork. Later canvas editions are not additional comics. Main ensemble and Vader portrait inspected.
- CL-SW1-0003: Cover homage
Corrects the misleading “Naughty Violet” aggregate title to the exact Death Wars Edition. Clean cover scan and edition listings confirm 230 copies. GoCollect credits Steven Butler. Lady Death is identifiable; the other foreground figures and large background portrait need further identification. May 2019 is supported; May 1 may be a database placeholder.
- CL-SW1-0004: Cover homage
Exact Vark Wars printed cover recreates the original ensemble arrangement using Cerebus/Batvark and a Doré-derived setting. Dave Sim source credit retained; David Birdsong compositing/design attribution needs additional verification. Background figures are not assigned unsupported names.
- CL-SW1-0005: Cover homage
Cover B trade dress and the 1:10 virgin edition share one artwork. The exact image shows a large monster head behind four young figures in the Star Wars arrangement. Zach and Archer are story leads, but precise cover positions and the female figures remain unresolved; no character tags are guessed.
- CL-SW1-0006: Cover homage
Marvel’s contemporary Classic Homage press release identifies the exact Star Wars #1 target. Xavier with Cerebro is recognizable in the foreground. The remaining mutant figures and silhouettes are not fully identified, so character review remains open.

The exact art shows the Fantastic Four before Doctor Doom’s large portrait. It uses the Star Wars #1 composition alongside Fantastic Four #1-style title/dress. The edition’s “Fantastic Four Homage” name is retained, while the compositional relationship is explained; there is no Giganto street scene.
