Artist Profile
A career in context
Ron Frenz became a major Spider-Man artist during his 1980s run on The Amazing Spider-Man, beginning with the issue that introduced the black costume to that series. He later enjoyed a long collaboration with Tom DeFalco on Thor and co-created Spider-Girl.
His career also includes Superman, The Further Adventures of Indiana Jones, and extensive work across Marvel’s classic characters. New collections and archival editions continue to return his Spider-Man and Superman work to print.
CoverLineage noteFrenz draws with an awareness of lineage already built in. His homage images do not stand outside comics history looking back; they feel connected to the storytelling tradition that produced the originals. Action Comics #1 connections now include Superman #124. The Amazing Spider-Man #129 connections now include Amazing Spider-Girl #4 — Regular cover.
