A career in context

Mirka Andolfo is an Italian comics writer and artist whose work moves between her own series and assignments for international publishers. She created Sacro/Profano in 2012; it later appeared in several European editions. ControNatura reached English-language readers as Unnatural through Image Comics, with editions in numerous other languages. Her publisher biographies place these original series alongside American comics work, giving her a career in both the Italian market and the wider international industry.

Andolfo began collaborating with DC in 2015, drawing titles including Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, DC Bombshells and Teen Titans. Her credits also include Marvel’s Ms. Marvel and stories for BOOM! Studios’ The Amazing World of Gumball. Beyond solo projects, she created The Under York Chronicles with writer Sylvain Runberg and collaborated with Andrea Broccardo and David Goy on Deep Beyond. Her cover illustration has appeared across DC, Marvel, Valiant, BOOM!, Aspen and Zenescope, alongside those interior-art and writing assignments.

Her Image bibliography includes Mercy and Sweet Paprika as well as Unnatural. For DSTLRY she wrote and illustrated Blasfamous, a horror comedy collected in hardcover in 2024. The story turns celebrity worship into a supernatural economy, following a pop star and her demonic agent as a new performer threatens their standing. Its three-issue format adds another original setting to a bibliography encompassing romance, fantasy and horror, while maintaining her combined role as writer and illustrator.
