Artist Profile

A career in context

Mike Mayhew began penciling for DC Comics in 1993 and developed his storytelling through runs on Zorro and Vampirella. He became especially visible through painted and digitally rendered covers for Marvel titles including Mystique, Elektra, The Pulse, and She-Hulk.

His adaptation of George Lucas’s original draft as The Star Wars became a bestselling graphic novel. He continues to create collectible variants across Marvel, DC, licensed properties, and independent titles through Mike Mayhew Studio.

CoverLineage noteMayhew translates graphic shorthand into staged realism. Familiar poses gain convincing light, material, and anatomy, as though the original cover were being remembered through a modern production still.
