Artist Profile
A career in context
Martín Morazzo is an Argentina-based comic-book artist whose published work combines science fiction, horror and surreal fantasy. Image Comics traces his introduction to American readers to Absolute Magnitude, a webcomic published through DC’s Zuda imprint. He subsequently collaborated with writer Joe Harris on Great Pacific and Snowfall at Image. Those projects established a continuing body of sequential work before the horror stories that would become another major part of his bibliography.
Ice Cream Man pairs Morazzo with writer W. Maxwell Prince and colorist Chris O’Halloran. Image describes the series as a collection of individual stories involving sorrow, wonder and redemption, with the title character moving through their different worlds. The publisher credits Morazzo with the drawing and O’Halloran with color, an important distinction in a series whose visual presentation involves both artists. Its collected editions preserve their collaboration across multiple volumes rather than a single standalone story.
Morazzo and Prince also collaborated on The Electric Sublime, later presented by Image as Art Brut. That edition remastered and relettered the earlier material, restored its intended title and added new covers and backup stories. Its protagonist, Arthur Brut, enters paintings while working alongside the Bureau of Artistic Integrity; Image describes the narrative as a mixture of a police investigation, fantasy and psychological thriller. Morazzo’s bibliography also extends to DC: the publisher’s talent page credits his art and covers for Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum, alongside his earlier contribution to Vertigo Quarterly: Cyan.
CoverLineage noteIce Cream Man #17 joins the Action Comics #1 lineage, with Chris O’Halloran separately credited for color. Morazzo’s Creepshow #3 variant connects his horror-cover work to Spider-Man #1.
