Artist Profile

A career in context

Guillem March is a Spanish comics artist and professional illustrator whose work spans European graphic novels and American superhero publishing. His publisher biography records early work for Eros Comix in 2000 and his American debut in Joker’s Asylum: Poison Ivy in 2008. He went on to draw Batman, Detective Comics, Azrael: Death’s Dark Knight and Oracle: The Cure. Gotham City Sirens became a particularly prominent part of his DC bibliography, followed by assignments on titles including Justice League Dark, Starfire and The Joker.

March’s European work includes Monika and The Dream, while Karmen placed him in the dual role of writer and artist. Originally published by Dupuis in Belgium, the graphic novel reached American readers through Image Comics as a five-issue series beginning in 2021. It follows Catalina and an unconventional angel through a story about grief, suicide and redemption. In Image’s announcement, March said that the project took six years and that writing the script himself allowed him to approach the entire story as one creative undertaking.

He continued that solo approach with Ofiusa, a six-part romantic thriller launched by Image in September 2026. Its intersecting timelines follow Joan, Mar and Isla through a relationship story shaped by hidden information and a secret from the past. March described spending years on this personal project and valuing comics with a distinctive creator’s voice. His bibliography therefore encompasses both collaborations within established superhero worlds and lengthy projects in which he develops the writing and artwork together.

CoverLineage noteMarch’s Harley Quinn #60 and #61 entries reference Batman #423 and Absolute Batman #1 respectively. Gotham City Sirens #16 adds Hulk #340, allowing comparison across related Gotham characters and three distinct source compositions.
