Artist Profile
A career in context
David Yardin is a comic-book illustrator born and raised in Sydney, Australia, where he is based. His professional biography identifies his training with Whilce Portacio in the Philippines in 1999 as the starting point of his career. His published work subsequently reached Image, Marvel, DC, BOOM! Studios and Valiant. Much of his Marvel bibliography developed around the X-Men office, including District X, Storm, X-Men Origins: Gambit and Black Panther/X-Men, before his cover assignments expanded across the publisher’s wider line.
Yardin spent four years as the regular cover artist on X-Factor. Marvel’s creator catalogue also documents his work on Jean Grey, Wolverine Annual and War of the Realms: Uncanny X-Men. At DC, his assignments include interior art on The Joker’s Asylum: Killer Croc and an Injustice: Gods Among Us Year Two annual. His cover credits extend through Injustice: Gods Among Us Year Five, Justice League, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman and The Flash, giving him a bibliography that includes both sequential storytelling and recurring cover work.
His illustration practice has also reached promotional and physical entertainment projects. His convention biography records artwork for Marvel film releases including The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy and Doctor Strange, as well as artwork for DC’s Harley Quinn Spinsanity attraction at Six Flags. He has conducted workshops at Microsoft’s flagship Sydney store. Together, these assignments show how a comics career can extend beyond printed issues into marketing, public demonstrations and illustrated attractions while retaining a substantial publisher cover portfolio.
