Artist Profile

A career in context

Dan Mora is a Costa Rican comic-book artist whose early published work includes Hexed with writer Michael Alan Nelson and Klaus with Grant Morrison. His publisher BOOM! Studios records that he received the Russ Manning Promising Newcomer Award in 2016 for Klaus.

At BOOM! Studios, Mora’s bibliography expanded to licensed properties such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Power Rangers, alongside the supernatural adventure Once & Future with Kieron Gillen. The publisher announced Once & Future in 2019 and identified Mora as both its artist and the illustrator of the debut cover. His work also includes cover assignments for Marvel and DC.

At DC, Mora collaborated with Mark Waid on Batman/Superman: World’s Finest. DC’s 2026 deluxe collection gathers the first eleven issues and a story from Detective Comics #1050, together with introductions by Waid and Mora and production material. Mora’s continuing cover work is documented separately from interior assignments: World’s Finest #51, for example, credits Adrián Gutiérrez for the story art and Mora for the cover.
